Important Information
▸ Please do not staple documents, but hand in loose papers, and please take off any passport cover!
▸ Please do not use erasable pens to fill out the forms.
▸ Application documents should be in English, German or Japanese. Documents in other languages should be handed in together with a translation (at least by yourself).
▸ The processing of your application can start only after all documents are submitted completely and correctly.
▸ The Consulate reserves the right to request additional documents after reviewing your application.

Necessary Documents - Visit Visa
All documents not requested in original should be handed in as copies (in DIN A4 format).
1. valid passport (original + copy)
- instructions for the passport copy
- when applying by post: copy only (Only for persons not living near Munich! Details here.)
- with at least 1 full free page
2. application form (completed and with original sign)
* Citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and all other NIS states have to submit two application forms. (Full list here.)
- For children, a parent should sign and add „signed by mother / father“.

3. recent passport photo (full-frontal view of face, no scans or copied photos)
* Citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and all other NIS states have to submit two photos. (Full list here.)
- not older than 6 months
- size: 35 x 45 mm to 45 x 45 mm
4. copy of the German residence permit
- front and back (The whole card must be visible.)
- A temporary permit ("Fiktionsbescheinigung") is also accepted, as long as it allows re-entry to Germany.
- The residence permit (or Fiktionsbescheinigung) must be valid until after your return to Germany!
5. financial proof
- most recent bank account statement or three most recent salary slips
- not older than 1 month
- for bank account statements/online banking: The statement should show the name of the account holder, the start and end balance of one month (incl. transactions), as well as the date of issue.
- if another person covers the travel costs: letter of guarantee + ID copy and financial proof of the guarantor + if applicable, proof of kinship (marriage / birth certificate)
6. invitation letter (English / Japanese)
- The invitation letter must not be filled out by yourself!
7. proof of identity of the inviting person
- copy of the Japanese Residence Card
- if the inviting person is Japanese: passport copy
- alternative: copy of a recent Japanese certificate of residence ("juminhyo")
8. schedule of stay (English / Japanese)
- detailed plan including: arrival and departure dates, places of stay and planned activities, name and contact data of the iniviting person
- It is not sufficient to write only "sightseeing" or "visit".

9. non-binding flight plan
- reservation or overview of the flights you are planning to take (e.g. screenshot with details of the flights)
- in- and outbound flight
